Proverbs 29

2012-07-19_0634
download (1)
Proverbs 29:1 "He, that being often reproved hardeneth [his] neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy."
Proverbs 29:2 "When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn."
Proverbs 29:3 "Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father: but he that keepeth company with harlots spendeth [his] substance."
Proverbs 29:4 "The king by judgment establisheth the land: but he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it."
Proverbs 29:5 "A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet."
A man who has been corrected over and over. Each time he was corrected just made him more and more stubborn.  The truth will be the rule when the righteous are in control. It will be fair to everyone. The poor, the widows, and the homeless will be cared for. On the other hand, when the wicked rule, the order of the day would be to make the wicked ruler richer. Every decision he made would have a selfish motive.   A man who keeps company with a harlot is an embarrassment to his entire family.   The whole country is healthy in the rule of a just king.  Flattery is a trap. There is a hidden motive behind the flattery.
images
Proverbs 29:15 "The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left [to himself] bringeth his mother to shame."
Proverbs 29:16 "When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall."
Proverbs 29:17 "Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul."
Proverbs 29:18 "Where [there is] no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy [is] he."
Proverbs 29:19 "A servant will not be corrected by words: for though he understand he will not answer."
Sometimes a whipping with the correction makes a more lasting lesson. If a child is left to have his own way, he will wind up spoiled; and no one enjoys being around a child who knows no discipline. It shames his mother.   When the morals of most of the people are bad, sin increases rapidly. Leave them alone, and they will destroy each other. When you train a son correctly, you have nothing to fear from his behavior.   A vision from God can be the will of God being revealed to you in a supernatural way.

proverbs-2925_5468_1024x768
Proverbs 29:22 "An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression."
Proverbs 29:23 "A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit."
Proverbs 29:24 "Whoso is partner with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth cursing, and bewrayeth [it] not."
Proverbs 29:25 "The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe."
Proverbs 29:26 "Many seek the ruler's favour; but [every] man's judgment [cometh] from the LORD."
. His fits of temper cause problems, not only for himself, but for all those around him.   God loves the humble. In fact, everyone loves the humble person, and others build the humble up. A man with pride is so self-centered that others are not fond of him.   To be partner with a thief makes you a thief, also. Even if you did not steal, you would be guilty by association.  Fear is lack of faith. If we have faith in the Lord, we have nothing to fear.

Review: Minding Molly (The Courtships of Lancaster County #3) by Leslie Gould

Book Review: Minding Molly by Leslie Gould

Books Details
Title: Minding Molly
Author: Leslie Gould
2014, Bethany House
ISBN: 9780764210334
Genre: Amish Fiction, Christian Fiction

Book Summary
Capable and optimistic Molly Zook has a slight issue with control: She doesn't like giving it up. So she's chafing against her mother's wish that, to save the family farm, she marry Mervin Mosier--especially after she meets Leon Fisher. He's from Montana but is working in Molly's district, training horses at a nearby ranch. He is tall and muscular, with a confident demeanor. Molly has never met anyone like him, and he seems to feel the same about her.

Determined to let nothing get between them, Molly decides the best course of action is to get Mervin to fall back in love with her best friend, Hannah. Molly organizes a weekend camping trip hoping to bring them together, but things quickly go awry and it seems Leon and Hannah might be falling for each other instead. Will Molly keep struggling to control everyone and everything around her? Or will she learn to let God handle the twists and turns of her life?
My Review
Molly Zook Has Everything Planned Just Right.
Or So She Thinks!
I was frustrated with the way Molly was treated in part of the book, however you will not be able to stop reading because you will want to find out what happens. I recommend the series to those that like Amish books!  This book can be a stand alone book, but the experience is much greater if you read the first two books.
I have always been intrigued by the Amish so over the years I have read a number of books about the Amish.   Minding Molly is alot like the first two books. I felt bad for Molly  when she was not treated well by her friend!  Molly likes to be in control, but then her mother wants her to marry to save the family farm, this she struggles with!!  She then has two men that are interested in her!

About the Author
Some of my strongest memories from childhood include stories—and how those stories connected me to my family and friends. As a preschooler, I remember playing Island of the Blue Dolphin with my three siblings and the neighbor kids, my father reading A Street of Flower Boxes to us before bed, and my mother reading A Tree Grows in Brooklyn on long car trips. I also soaked up Bible stories and accounts of grace and redemption during Sunday school and Good News Club. Along with my love of stories, my love of writing began in those early years with my very first written word—S-K-Y.
Even though I knew I wanted to write fiction by the time I was in the sixth grade, as I grew older I pursued other things instead, such as majoring in history and communications, and then working as a museum curator, then a public relations specialist, and finally as a magazine editor. Once I finally started writing fiction, it was another ten years until I sold my first novel. By that time I’d been married for nearly 20 years and had four children of my own to read to. In the decade since my first contract I’ve written fifteen books, from Beyond the Blue, a story about international adoption set in Vietnam, to Courting Cate, a retelling of Shakespeare’s “Taming of the Shrew” set in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. No matter what I write, I aim to reveal truths about God’s love, beauty, and redemptive work in our lives. My goal is to connect more deeply to God, family, and friends through my writing. My hope is that my stories encourage readers to deepen their own connections too. (http://www.lesliegould.com/
I received a complimentary copy of Minding Molly from Bethany House Publishers in exchange for an honest review, which I have given.

Proverbs 28

proverbs 28.1 (1)
Proverbs 28:1 "The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion."
Proverbs 28:2 "For the transgression of a land many [are] the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding [and] knowledge the state [thereof] shall be prolonged."
Proverbs 28:3 "A poor man that oppresseth the poor [is like] a sweeping rain which leaveth no food."
Proverbs 28:4 "They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them."
Proverbs 28:5 "Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all [things]."
Proverbs 28:6 "Better [is] the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than [he that is] perverse [in his] ways, though he [be] rich."
A guilty conscience is a terrible thing, but is a prerequisite for confident living and spiritual boldness.  Wisdom promotes social order and long rule.  The Lord Jesus taught give and it shall be given unto you. Selfishness and greed bring poverty.  We see not only a sinner, but a lover of sin, as well. There are only 2 sides you can be on. One side loves God and keeps His commandments. The other side loves the world and the wickedness it brings.   Evil men  have chosen to follow Satan instead of God.  Those who seek the Lord will find Him.
proverbs_28_11_by_shadow_boy-d4eo3t2
We see many times the rich are self-centered. They have been told so many times how great they are, that they have come to believe it themselves. The rich man has a hard time coming to God, because he feels self-sufficient. To come to the Lord, we must first humble ourselves, and that is very difficult for a conceited man to do.
Proverbs 28 v 14
Proverbs 28:13 "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh [them] shall have mercy."
Proverbs 28:14 "Happy [is] the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief."
Proverbs 28:15 "[As] a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; [so is] a wicked ruler over the poor people."
Proverbs 28:16 "The prince that wanteth understanding [is] also a great oppressor: [but] he that hateth covetousness shall prolong [his] days."
Sin must not be hidden but confessed.  If we cover our sins, God will not forgive them. God has mercy on whom He will. He loves us and forgives us if we confess and ask forgiveness.   If we harden our heart to God, it opens the door to Satan and all of his evil.  A ranging bear and a lion will destroy the helpless. You may be sure the evil king will do no less to the poor.
proverbs_28_25_postcard-r1c85847de4dd40dba1d036870a4d946c_vgbaq_8byvr_324
Proverbs 28:23 "He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue."
Proverbs 28:24 "Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith, [It is] no transgression; the same [is] the companion of a destroyer."
Proverbs 28:25 "He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat."
Proverbs 28:26 "He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered."
Proverbs 28:27 "He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse."

Someone who flatters with the tongue and says everything is okay can do you great harm. Flattery has no value but reproof does, so it leads to gratitude.  Truth is always the best rule.  A proud heart has to do with being puffed up with self. He stirs up strife because he feels no one has an opinion worth hearing but his own.  We must trust in the living God. We cannot trust in ourselves. The wise in heart seek God.  God counts everything you give to the poor as if you were giving to Him.  You cannot out give God.  God loves a cheerful giver.

Proverbs 27

27Proverbs-500x500

proverbs-27-1-photo-bible-verse (1)

Proverbs 27:1 "Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth."
Proverbs 27:2 "Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips."
Proverbs 27:3 "A stone [is] heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's wrath [is] heavier than them both."
Proverbs 27:4 "Wrath [is] cruel, and anger [is] outrageous; but who [is] able to stand before envy."
Fools think they know the future or can affect its outcome, but the future rests with sovereign God.  If we honor ourselves, it is more like conceit and the honor is not very valuable.  We see in this that a fool's anger is almost too heavy to bear.   Envy is jealously which is the most uncontrollable sin.

1 - proverbs 27 5

Proverbs 27:5 "Open rebuke [is] better than secret love."
Proverbs 27:6 "Faithful [are] the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy [are] deceitful."
Proverbs 27:7 "The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet."
Proverbs 27:8 "As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so [is] a man that wandereth from his place."
To genuinely love is to manifest the truth, even if it means to rebuke.  True criticism from a friend may hurt for a time but may be welcomed, for it issues from his love, whereas the kisses of an enemy are an attempt to conceal his hatred.  The luxury and indolence of wealth make the best things tasteless, while the hard working person who hungers finds every bitter thing sweet.  A man that wanders is not only out of place, but could be in danger. So the message is to stay close to home.

ebc2a3acb4c358a0c1dc7258ace645cb
Proverbs 27:11 "My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me."
Proverbs 27:12 "A prudent [man] foreseeth the evil, [and] hideth himself; [but] the simple pass on, [and] are punished."
Proverbs 27:13 "Take his garment that is surety for a stranger, and take a pledge of him for a strange woman."
A parent, in a sense, is given credit or blame for what our children become. We are their teacher and some of the blame or praise should be ours.  Any man, who is foolish enough to guarantee a stranger’s loan, especially if that stranger is a seductress, is a bad credit risk. If you make a loan to him, be sure to get adequate collateral.
Proverbs 27 17

Proverbs 27:17 "Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend."
I see that iron couldn't be sharpened by aluminum or some softer metal. We see in this that friends should choose friends of their same or stronger moral stature. To run around with a fool would not improve you at all. Someone of like beliefs will build you up when you are down.
proverbs 27 19 blogspot

Proverbs 27:19 "As in water face [answereth] to face, so the heart of man to man."
Proverbs 27:20 "Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied."
Proverbs 27:21 "[As] the fining pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so [is] a man to his praise."
When we look into a man's heart, we see our heart, as well.  We see, here, that Satan never stops trying to cause men to sin. The lust of the eyes is what caused the sin in the Garden of Eden, and it is still what causes sin.   We see in this that heat applied purifies. The trash in the precious metals comes to the top and is skimmed off. We are told that even under great pressure we are to praise God.
Proverbs 27:23 "Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, [and] look well to thy herds."
Proverbs 27:24 "For riches [are] not for ever: and doth the crown [endure] to every generation?"
Proverbs 27:25 "The hay appeareth, and the tender grass sheweth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered."
Proverbs 27:26 "The lambs [are] for thy clothing, and the goats [are] the price of the field."
Proverbs 27:27 "And [thou shalt have] goats' milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, and [for] the maintenance for thy maidens."
Whatever type of work you do, you should do your very best.  We see, here, that just because you have riches doesn't mean that you always will. If you do not take care of what God has entrusted you with, you will find one day that all your wealth has vanished. We see the farmer makes preparation to feed his animals year round.   Lambs grow wool, and they are sheared to make clothing. It appears that the goats are more easily reproduced, and the owner can sell them and pay for the field.  Believers are called sheep, and non- believers are called goats.

SHAKE Flip-top pill box by Sabi review

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.
Description
We wanted to create an alternative bottle-style pill box that would be more stylish and more fun to use, that would sit on bedside table or kitchen counter and be the first thing you reach for in the morning, that would help you stick to your daily vitamin or pill routine. It was an intriguing design challenge.
It was important for us that the pill box cap would be easy to open and not strain the hands and wrists. It was also important to us that the pill box would only release one or two pills at a time, to reduce handling of pills and germ transfer.
And so we created the SHAKE pill bottle-inspired pill box. Transfer your pills into the SHAKE pill box, close the lid, shake, open the lid and retrieve one or two pills from the tray.
The SHAKE pill box lid is inset with an expiry date dial and there’s an inset cork caddy at the bottom of the pill box so you can plug the pill box opening to ensure pills remain inside the pill box (rather than rattle around on the tray under the lid) during rough travel.
The SHAKE pill box is guaranteed to make taking your pills safer, easier, and yes - even fun!

I put our children's Tylenol  in it and it works wonderfully for us, but I do have older children who know not to get into the bottle! There is a plug so you can make sure that they do not rattle around in the lid when traveling!

The lid stays closed tightly but is also easily opened so they would work wonderfully for someone with arthritis or someone who has trouble opening bottles!
It also has a dial on the lid which is meant to indicate the expiry date (month) of the medicine placed inside the SABI Pill Box. The dial can be turned to the month of the expiry date of the pills placed inside.

Overall, I love the design of the SABI Flip-Top Pill Box. It might be bigger than my pill bottles at home but the ease of dispensing 1 medicine at a time makes up for the bigger size. I also love the easy-to-open flip-top lid!!

Proverbs 26

2456813340eed50e8554ba13b6939c18

Proverbs 26:1 "As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honour is not seemly for a fool."
Proverbs 26:2 "As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come."
Proverbs 26:3 "A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the fool's back."
Proverbs 26:4 "Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him."
We know that snow in summer is completely out of place and rain in harvest can ruin the crop. We know that it is completely out of place for a fool to be honored.    The whip controls the horse. The bridle controls the ass and makes it go where it should.  The rod of correction is to control the behavior of the fool.  These verses teach the appropriate way to answer a fool who is an unbeliever who rejects truth. He should not be answered with agreement to his own ideas and presuppositions, or he will think he is right. Rather he should be rebuked on the basis of his folly and shown the truth so he sees how foolish he is.
17153

Proverbs 26:10 "The great [God] that formed all [things] both rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth transgressors."
Proverbs 26:11 "As a dog returneth to his vomit, [so] a fool returneth to his folly."
Proverbs 26:12 "Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? [there is] more hope of a fool than of him."
Proverbs 26:13 "The slothful [man] saith, [There is] a lion in the way; a lion [is] in the streets."
Proverbs 26:14 "[As] the door turneth upon his hinges, so [doth] the slothful upon his bed."
Jesus is the Judge of all, the just and the unjust.  Just as a dog is never through with the food that he has expelled and goes back to it, a fool who has momentarily rejected sin in his life, will return to it, as well. A fool must become wise to get rid of sin and stay rid of the sin. A fool will be enticed to sin the same sin all over again as his flesh calls him, because he has not learned anything from the first sin.   The worst thing about someone wise in his own conceit is that he feels that he needs no improvement. He is in deep sin and is unaware of his need for help.   It is a feeble excuse to get out of work.   The lazy man loves sleep so much that he seems to be hinged to his bed. He stays in the bed day and night and tosses and turns going nowhere.
Proverbs-26-18

Proverbs 26:20 "Where no wood is, [there] the fire goeth out: so where [there is] no talebearer, the strife ceaseth."
Proverbs 26:21 "[As] coals [are] to burning coals, and wood to fire; so [is] a contentious man to kindle strife."
This is just saying, stop adding fuel to the fire and the fire will die down. A rumor cannot damage anyone until it is told, Gossip is like the wood. It causes widespread damage. To stop the damage, stop the gossip.   A situation where the coals of gossip have just about gone out, but a contentious man who loves trouble will go in there and rekindle the mess all over again.
Proverbs 26v24

Proverbs 26:24 "He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him;"
Proverbs 26:25 "When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for [there are] seven abominations in his heart."
Proverbs 26:26 "[Whose] hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be shewed before the [whole] congregation."
Proverbs 26:27 "Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him."
Proverbs 26:28 "A lying tongue hateth [those that are] afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin."
This "dissembleth" means that he uses words to tear apart every one he sees. He is a very evil man. This man flatters you to try to destroy you. This is deceit to the utmost.  We see what modern society calls a two-faced man. He appears to be one thing and is, in fact, something entirely different.  This is just one more way of saying, what you sow you will reap.  This lying tongue goes along with deceit.    This flattery is ordinarily used to try to con someone.

Proverbs 25

Proverbs-24-3-4-web
Proverbs 25:8 "Go not forth hastily to strive, lest [thou know not] what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame."
Proverbs 25:9 "Debate thy cause with thy neighbour [himself]; and discover not a secret to another:"
Quick anger causes embarrassment.   If you have a peeve, go and tell the neighbor. Have prayer with the neighbor, treat him as you would want to be treated yourself, and your argument will be over.   Don't go gossiping to other neighbors.

Proverbs24_14
Proverbs 25:16 "Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it."
To expect rain and it not to come is very disappointing. We see that someone who promises a gift and then doesn't give it is disappointing, as well.   A certain amount of sweetness is wonderful, but after you are full, extra sweetness can make you sick.
Proverbs-24.26-940x705
Proverbs 25:23 "The north wind driveth away rain: so [doth] an angry countenance a backbiting tongue."
Proverbs 25:24 "It is] better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman and in a wide house."
Proverbs 25:25 "[As] cold waters to a thirsty soul, so [is] good news from a far country."
Proverbs 25:26 "A righteous man falling down before the wicked [is as] a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring."
Proverbs 25:27 "[It is] not good to eat much honey: so [for men] to search their own glory [is not] glory."
What makes a home is not the size of the house, but it is the peace and rest there.  To live with an angry brawling (fighting) person (man or woman) is miserable.  When you are hot and thirsty, there is no better drink that money can buy than a cool drink of water. Christians are supposed to stand up for what is right. An attack on a Christian is actually an attack upon their Lord.   A conceited person is not admired by anyone.
