Proverbs 1

                                                                                             Obey Parents!!
Proverbs 1:8 “My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother.”
Here is the first of 22 times in Proverbs that Solomon appeals to “my son.” Clearly, then, much of this book is devoted to instructing children in the truth. Probably the greatest danger to young people is their refusal to be taught by their parents.

                                                                                                 Avoid Bad Company!!

Proverbs 1:10 “My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.”
It is a sad, but true fact, that sinners are never content to just destroy their own souls by their evils; they generally try to entice others to join with them.
Proverbs 1:15 “My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path.”
Over and over its telling us to avoid bad company, even if we think we can change them its usually us led astray!! We can not completely avoid the world but beware of not being drawn in by it!!

                                                                                                      Seek Wisdom!!
Proverbs 1:20 “Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets.”
Proverbs 1:21 She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying.”
“These terms all suggest that this is a public teaching of wisdom. Throughout the, Bible, emphasis is mainly upon the public teaching and preaching of the truth.
Proverbs 1:22 “How long, ye simple ones, will ye love, simplicity? And the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge.”
Proverbs 1:32 “For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.”
Proverbs 1:33 “But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.”
Here is the promise to those who do hearken to Divine wisdom and turn to the Lord when He calls!!
