Graduation

Our third son is graduating.

Three have graduated, and now three grandchildren

I'm feeling old all of a sudden.

I'm trying to get everything done for the open house on Saturday.

Our children grow up way to fast for my way of thinking.

I'm going to try to make the most of the years I have left with little ones around.

My little Gift & Tea Shop

I am on a journey of starting a little gift & tea shop at my home,

I'm still trying to think of names

I'm thinking of:

Blessings By Renee Gift & Tea Boutique or

Renee's Treasures

any thoughts on these ?

I 'm going to show some pictures of the building, my husband hauled home for me.

as you can see, I have a lot of work ahead of me. starting by gutting the whole inside then tape and paint.

I am planning on using old cupboards for displaying things, I have some and will have to watch for some more. I am just itching to start.

I will try to post pictures as I progress along.

I am very excited!
I have been working on my different craft projects. hoping to have enough things ready by fall when I'd like to have everything ready.

OUR FUN DAY

This is what kept my children entertained today With all the snow we fed the birds on our back deck.
Then my 14 year old got the bright idea to try to catch the birds so he attatched a cd case cover to an old carved gun which he held out our sliding glass door, and waited til they got close and dropped it over the bird.
It worked pretty well I guess.
Then the girls got to pet the birds then they let them go again.
This is where my son threw bird seed in the snow on the overhang of our roof, and the birds would fly up and grab a piece of seed. it was really neat.

This is a picture of him after he jumped into the snow on our deck from the top of my swing frame. They had a really good time today. But Im still wanting SPRING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Snow Snow Snow

Well we started SPRING cleaning today. I said it was spring but now it looks like winter again. It is snowing and they are predicting up to 10 inches.
We did finish the livingroom, all walls washed and pictures dusted and washed. Maybe we will get through the whole house by spring the way the weather is going.
This is the fun for girls at our house , they fight over who gets to sit on the register and poof out their dresses, they are happy we still need to use the heat so they can play.

Rosetta Stone

This year we have been learning sign language, and the children are doing really well.

Next year we are going to try another language and I came across this contest, and thought I would pass it on.

We haven't tried Rosetta Stone so I really don't know anything about it but what I read in this article, but it sounds like something we would like to try.

Has anyone else tried this?

Rosetta Stone has been the #1 foreign language curriculum among homeschoolers for a

while -- next week they are unleashing a brand new curriculum, and you can WIN the *all new* Rosetta Stone Homeschool Version 3…FOR FREE!

This is a $219 program (and believe me it's worth every penny!) and the winner gets to pick from any of these 14 languages: Spanish (Spain or Latin America), English (American or British), Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Irish, Hebrew, or Russian.

This will also include a headset with microphone, and students will participate in lifelike conversations and actually produce language to advance through the program. Rosetta Stone still incorporates listening, reading and writing as well, in addition to speaking. Many homeschoolers requested grammar and vocabulary exercises, and with Rosetta Stone Homeschool Version 3, they're included! For parents, the new Parent Administrative Tools are integrated into the program and allow parents to easily enroll students in any of 12 predetermined lesson plans, monitor student progress, and view and print reports.

To win this most excellent program -- in the language of your choice -- copy these (blue) paragraphs (highlight, then hit Ctrl C to copy) and post it in (or as) your next blog post (hit Ctrl V to paste) -- then to enter the contest, go to the original contest page : HERE
and leave a comment with the link showing where you blogged about it. And please make sure the link works to get back to the original contest page when you post it. And good luck! The winner will be picked randomly on March 26, and will be notified thru the link they left to their blog pg. And if you have more than one blog, you can post them and enter those separately for more chances to win. Yay for free stuff!

book review

I've just read a book
Ordinary Days by Dorcas Smucker
Family Life In A Farmhouse
She tells a lot of stories about her family some will make you laugh, and others will make you want to cry.
I especially liked the story she told about her son learning to drive,
We've been going through some of the same things with our son, who is hoping to have his license in a couple of weeks. I'm not sure why they think they are invincible.
Oh well I am looking forward to not having to run all over bringing him here or there.
I also like the way she plans her garage saleing she has a map planned out and everything.
I on the other hand meander where ever I see a sign this way and that, I think I need a new plan.
They are a collection of stories about her life, I really enjoyed it and hope to read her other book
Upstairs the Peasants Are Revolting: More Family Life in a Farmhouse.

What exactly is an ordinary day anyways?
